PC IMAGEWARE LAUNCHES PROGRAM
TO ATTRACT
MORE CANADIAN RESELLERS
Company will launch its first product
alongside recruitment campaign
Toronto-based PC Imageware (PCI)
Corp. is rolling out its Asset Minders VAR
program in hopes of recruiting resellers with
expertise in consulting, custom report writing,
data import/export, LAN installation and training
services to sell and support its upcoming Asset
Minder Pro asset tracking software.
PCI's Asset Minder Pro for
Windows 95 and NT Workstation targets any small
or medium-sized business that has ever mislaid
mice, lost laptops or misplaced monitors. The
software helps companies keep track of their
assets -- especially movable IT assets, and
manages upgrades, maintenance schedules and
warranties. At the same time, it aims to avoid
the cost and complexity of existing asset
management software solutions more suitable for
large enterprises.
"Tracking moveable assets
has become a major problem for companies of all
sizes, and most of them don't know where to begin
to find a solution," says Nick Francis,
president of PCI. "until now companies have
had to invest anywhere from $2000 to $50000 on
software alone for solutions less feature rich
and robust in terms of tracking than Asset Minder
Pro, and this has left smaller businesses out of
the market."
To drive his point home, Francis
refers to a recent Gartner Group report. The
report says that proper deployment, support,
platform standardization and
"best-of-breed" product selection
combined with simple tracking of on-site/off-site
assets in IT-dependent companies, particularly
those with mobile workforces, can help companies
save up to 26 per cent on the cost of owning and
operating networked PC's.
"We believe this is an
excellent opportunity for our VAR partners to get
in on the ground floor and make a lot of money in
this virtually untouched market," says
Francis.
Asset Minder Pro also lets
resellers work with clients to perform
value-added tasks, he adds, such as taking stock
of a company's IT assets for inclusion in the
software's files. or adding tracking accessories,
such as bar-codes, to equipment.
There is a $1200
"covercharge" for resellers to join the
Asset Minder program, which entitles them to
resalable Asset Minder Pro software of equal
value, and not-for-resale copies for demos and
personal use. In addition, partners will receive
product and sales training, preferred reseller
pricing, and access to co-operative marketing
opportunities including advertising in industry
publications.
The company is focusing its
efforts on recruiting between five and 10
reseller partners in each of 19 major North
American cities, including Toronto, Montreal,
Ottawa, Calgary, Winnipeg, Vancouver
